Andover Township Committee

Andover Township is governed by a five‑member Township Committee. Residents vote for committee members in elections every November. Committee members serve staggered three‑year terms, which means no more than two seats are up for election in any given year.

2026 Township Committee Members are:

  • Thomas D. Walsh, Mayor
  • Krista Gilchrist, Deputy Mayor
  • Ellsworth Bensley, Jr., Committeeman
  • Suzanne Howell, Committeewoman
  • Roderick M. Mosner, Committeeman

Each January, the committee elects one of its members to serve as Mayor, who presides over meetings and acts as the head of municipal government. A Deputy Mayor is also selected. The other three members serve as Committeemen and Committeewomen.

The Township Committee is both the legislative and executive body of the municipality. Its responsibilities include:

  • Approving the annual township budget and taxpayer spending
  • Negotiating and approving contracts, including land sales and development agreements
  • Appointing members to advisory boards and committees
  • Setting local policy, ordinances, and land use rules
  • Hiring a full‑time Township Administrator to manage day‑to‑day operations
