Tuesday night’s Andover Township Land Use Board meeting drew nearly 150 residents united in opposition to a proposed data center on Stickles Pond Road. At the beginning of the session, Board Chair Paul Messerschmidt announced a strict rule: anyone who spoke about the data center or the specific property at 248 Stickles Pond Road would be stopped from speaking further. He also made it clear that any outbursts could potentially have one removed from the meeting.
The Land Use Board is responsible for guiding development in the township, reviewing site plans, and overseeing the community’s Master Plan in accordance with the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law. Despite the procedural restrictions, the public’s resolve was clear. We’ve also posted a video from the meeting, featuring an attorney who directly asked the Land Use Board to use its authority to help prevent any data center proposed in Andover Township from moving forward.
